Stay Committed

Today marks day 4 out of my 100 day program through beach body. I am working on becoming a wellness coach while being an online student. Since I am a part time student this semester I am really working on developing a solid wellness program while preparing for becoming a full time student next semester. Grades are important to me but so is my fitness and health journey.

Latley I have struggled with snacking on junk foods and binge eating (due to a bipolar PRN med) and am working on stopping that today and continuing my wellness journey and weight loss journey! Focusing on the positive including doing affirmations and gratitude has allowed me to work on all aspects of my health and not focus on previous binges but move forward.

Today I worked my butt off in my virtual program and had a super nutritious breakfast (2 eggs, whole wheat toast with coconut oil and honey and a super foods vegan protein smoothie). I also had my super foods mushroom coffee with morninga, maca root, MCT powder, coconut oil, honey and almond milk.

Staying goal oriented and focusing on my future as a professor, writer and wellness coach allows me to set daily goals that work toward my long term goals. I am staying future oriented while living mindfully in the present.

Day 4 of my wellness journey and working on becoming a wellness coach. I am enjoying living a mostly healthy lifestyle and working on staying committed to bettering myself so I can help other women someday.

Coconut Oil

The link above has 11 benefits of coconut oil. We all know it’s good for your hair and skin, but recently my Bariatric doctor told me not to ingest it daily because it can raise my cholesterol. I did some research and found out it’s a super food and a great alternative to butter (when cooking or on toast). I found out it combats disease and makes you feel and look good! Read the top article for more information on this superfood!

I love coconut oil on whole wheat toast! It taste delicious topped with cinnamon and honey or agave. It is known to help decrease inflammation and lower blood pressure. It gives you sustainable and long lasting energy and endurance and is perfect for taking for any workout program. It’s a supplement I really enjoy because it tastes good and is super good for your body , inside and out. It also enhances your brain power and memory and supports mylenation (I believe). MCFAs (mono chain fatty acids) play a huge role in brain health with the omegas. They help aid in the structure and function of the brain. They give it power and energy to produce positive results.

Overall I will still consume coconut oil, maybe every other day to support my health. I like to put it in my hair and on my skin every so often to hydrate and nourish them both! I enjoy it on whole grain toast as well. Taste delicious this time of the year on toast with pumpkin spice, cinnamon and honey. Taste like a good fall great minus the processed carbs and fats.

Healthy While Out for Breakfast

Eating healthy while out can be a challenge. I recommend ordering something high in protein and that is packed with veggies.

I order breakfast scrambles that have eggs and vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers, spinach, broccoli, onion and potatoes that are fried in oil not butter. I try to drink water with them to really satiate me and give me all the nutrients I need.

Whole grain toast is always a good option. Ordering eggs or egg whites is good too. Using honey instead of processed jams filled with sugar is a natural sweetener that also releases dopamine in your brain.

Making sure you get plenty of veggies with your proteins is very important to eating the “right macros” and getting the needed micros in your diet. Veggies are full of vitamins and nutrients and keep you fuller longer because of the fiber. They also promote weight loss if that is something you’re trying to do. They make us feel “good and full”.

Spinach contains minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and iron. It also had vitamins A, B6, and C as well as niacin and folate. An important elements that spinach brings is the sustainable energy.

Eating a healthy breakfast while “out” is key to maintaining a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.

Superfood Power

Who here enjoys superfoods? Me!!!! I use superfoods powder in my protein smoothies and shakes! It’s got over 50 superfoods in it packed with dense micronutrients that give you sustainable energy. Not only does it support a healthy lifestyle but it promotes energy at a cellular function.

When making a superfood smoothie, I use protein powder, instant carnation breakfast powder, superfood powder, maca root or morninga, any type of milk (dairy or nondairy), veggies such as spinach or kale, and frozen fruit. I sometimes add Greek yogurt, avocados or bananas to get potassium, omegas and magnesium. I use a ninja to blend it then top it with assorted nuts, dried fruit, hemp or flax seeds and honey or agave. If I want I can add coconut oil to help give strength to my hair, skin and nails as well as collagen powder.

It taste like a healthy milkshake packed full of macros and micros that give you long lasting energy and nourish your body and mind. It taste so good it shouldn’t be a superfood superpower treat. I highly recommend superfood shakes, bowls or smoothies to jump start your day or aid in “sweet tooth” cravings. They make you look and feel remarkable and truly give you “super powers”.
